Hydraulic Dampers (or shocks) provide speed and motion control using hydraulic oil damping in extension, compression, or both directions. For technical information on the operating principles of dampers please click here.
Hydraulic Dampers are specified by their stroke (distance travelled) and their constant of proportionality (c) between the forces generated the velocity travelled, expressed as Force/ velocity (N/m/s or Lbs/in/s).
Our standard dampers can provide damping forces ranging from 0.5N/mm/s to (c) values of 100N/mm/s or above.
For example, a damper with c=0.5N/mm/s would generate a damping force of 10N when displaced at a speed of 20mm/s while a damper with c=100N/mm/s could generate a 5,000N force when displaced at a speed of 50mm/s.
Hydraulic dampers can be used to control the motion of gas springs, mechanical springs and motors or to control the gravitational force acting on heavy doors or panels.
All our hydraulic dampers are custom built to suit your application.
