What are Compression Gas Springs?
Standard compression gas springs (also known as gas struts) are self-contained force storage devices used in a wide range of industries to provide a compact, high force solution to aid the lifting, counterbalancing and damping of applications.
IGS gas spring products are developed under the most stringent Quality procedures dictated by the ISO 9001 and AS9100 to ensure consistent compliance to the customer’s requirements.
The main features and benefits of our gas spring products include:
- Service life up to 125,000 cycles or 10 years *
- Superior reliability in a wide range of environmental conditions
- Maintenance-free
- Adjustable force **
- Predefined extension velocity and compression resistance
- Predefined spring force progression- known as K factor
All gas springs can be charged at the force you specify. If you are not sure of the force required, our adjustable force springs will assist you in defining your requirement experimentally. For help on how to calculate the size and force required for an application, please refer to our Technical and Design Reference section. * Depending on application conditions, ** excluding the low force size-4 springs

Stainless Steel Gas Springs
For applications exposed to corrosive environments (e.g. Marine, Petrochemical, Pharmaceutical, Medical and Food production) IGS Stainless Steel product range is manufactured from 316L grade Stainless Steel to ensure optimum performance and reliability to the most challenging environments.
The same grade of Stainless Steel is also employed for the IGS non-magnetic product range for use in Aerospace, Marine and Medical (MRI Scanners) applications. For help on how to calculate the size and force required for an application, please refer to our Technical and Design Reference section or contact us.
