Industrial Gas Spring Mounting Brackets

Ask A Question

Mounting brackets offer a fully integrated mounting solution for a wide variety of end fitted gas springs. Brackets include pre-drilled mounting holes, and integrated ball studs (ball joint end fittings) and pin configurations for metal eye & clevis end fitted gas springs. We also offer engineering support utilizing our proprietary application design software which calculates optimum mounting points, gas spring size and force and application operating characteristics. IGS also manufactures standard compression nitrogen filled gas springs and gas struts.

How To Select The Right Gas Spring Brackets

Choosing the correct gas spring mounting hardware  is essential to ensure the safe, stable, and long-lasting performance of your gas spring. The wrong bracket can lead to misalignment, premature wear, or even failure under load. Keep the following factors in mind when browsing our range of end fittings and mounting accessories:

  • End Fitting Compatibility: Mounting brackets must match the end fitting type on your gas spring — whether that's a ball socket, clevis, threaded stud, or eye bracket. Always confirm the end fitting specification before selecting a bracket.
  • Force & Load Rating: Every mounting bracket is rated to handle a specific force range. Make sure the bracket you choose is rated to support the full extended force (EF) of your gas spring, plus any additional dynamic loads your application may experience.
  • Mounting Surface & Orientation: Consider the surface the bracket will be attached to,  whether it's a flat panel, tube, or frame, and the angle at which the gas spring will operate. Some brackets are designed for specific mounting orientations, so ensure compatibility with your application geometry.
  • Material & Environment: If your application involves exposure to moisture, chemicals, or extreme temperatures, opt for brackets made from corrosion-resistant materials such as stainless steel or zinc-plated steel to maximise service life.
  • Stroke & Travel Clearance: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the bracket for the full stroke of the gas spring without obstruction. Insufficient clearance can cause binding or damage to surrounding components.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mounting Brackets

What mounting brackets do I need for my gas spring?

The correct mounting bracket depends on the end fitting type of your gas spring, the force rating of the spring, and the surface or structure you are mounting to. As a starting point, match the bracket type to the end fitting — for example, a ball socket end fitting requires a ball socket mounting bracket. If you are unsure, our technical team can help you identify the right bracket for your specific application. Get in touch with your gas spring specifications and we'll be happy to advise.

What's the difference between a ball socket and clevis bracket?

A ball socket bracket is designed to accept a ball stud end fitting, allowing for angular movement in multiple directions. This makes it ideal for applications where the gas spring needs to pivot or articulate during operation. A clevis bracket, on the other hand, uses a pin-and-fork design that allows rotation in a single plane. Clevis brackets are commonly used in heavier-duty or more controlled-movement applications. Both are available as part of our range of end fittings and mounting accessories.

Are your mounting brackets compatible with all gas spring brands?

Our mounting brackets are manufactured to standard industry dimensions and are compatible with the majority of gas springs available on the market. However, we always recommend cross-referencing the end fitting type, thread size, and force rating of your existing gas spring before ordering. If you need help confirming compatibility, our team is available to assist.

What material are your mounting brackets made from?

Our mounting brackets are available in zinc-plated steel and stainless steel. Zinc-plated steel brackets are suitable for general indoor and light industrial applications, while stainless steel brackets are recommended for environments exposed to moisture, humidity, chemicals, or extreme temperatures — such as marine, food processing, or outdoor applications.

Can I get custom mounting brackets?

Yes. If our standard range does not meet your requirements — whether due to unusual load ratings, non-standard dimensions, or specific material requirements — we are able to discuss custom solutions. Please contact our team with your specifications and we will advise on the best course of action.
